This weeks Planning & Development Committee will be another very important meeting as the agenda will feature the revised GO Train Station Secondary Plan. Following our recent post on the proposed Century Condos development by DeSantis in downtown Grimsby, we received an email from Mr. John Ariens, Associate Director and Planner with IBI group on behalf of the developer, requesting that we share it with the community.
The Council meeting had a very packed agenda on Monday and with that and other matters keeping us busy, we apologize for keeping readers “in suspense” over what transpired at Council.
Notably missing from the meeting was Mayor Bentley, so Alderman Seaborn took the reins as Deputy Mayor

Interesting article in Niagara This Week regarding Grimsby and the “Section 37 Bonus” provisions which are applicable when a developer wants to go beyond original zoning limits.
The current process of closed-door negotiations between developers and the Town is far from transparent. For residents these “payoffs” can’t mitigate the effects of poor planning and the deleterious effects on them and their property.
Budget
It’s budget time and draft “asks” are being circulated by the various committees. Read the posted committee agendas and find out where your tax dollars are proposed to be spent. Better yet, come to the Committee meetings (they’re open to the public) and hear the discussion – – a lot more is said than gets printed in the minutes.
