Nominations for the 2018 Municipal Election closed today at 2PM and the list as posted on the Town site shows for some competitive if not interesting races.  Notably Mayor Bentley did not re-file for Mayor and he will be handing over the Chains of Office to one of two known contenders, Jeff Jordan or Steve Berry.

Hospital Corridor Study

The Town is undertaking a study to develop a Secondary Plan and Urban Design Guidelines for the Town’s Hospital Corridor. This area is defined as all properties fronting onto Main Street East from Nelles Road to West Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Ombudsman: Niagara Region Acted Contrary To Law

In what seems to be a malaise in politics to intimidate, control and influence free media (or “fake news” as some elected officials call it), it looks like The Region got caught red-handed.  The Ombudsman recently released a report entitled “Press Pause” on the Region’s December 7, 2017 meeting where press equipment was seized and journalists were ejected.

MPP Oosterhoff Works At Expediting WLMH Redevelopment

Freshly re-elected Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff isn’t resting up after a busy provincial election, but rather he is out making good on his campaign promises.  One of those is to keep West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on the maps of Premier Ford’s newly formed government at Queen’s Park.
