Chills circulated through Council chambers Monday night… good chills that is, thinking of preparations and fundraising for the upcoming Coldest Night of the Year challenge on February 24.
Following our recent post on the proposed Century Condos development by DeSantis in downtown Grimsby, we received an email from Mr. John Ariens, Associate Director and Planner with IBI group on behalf of the developer, requesting that we share it with the community.
Given the recent release of 20 years of Regional Councillor expenses and the disclosure of the costs in the NPCA’s fruitless case against Ed Smith, it seems that those on Regional Council are keeping tight lipped about how they have been spending your tax dollars.
The community has been asking a lot of questions about what is happening with the downtown property at Main Street and Elm, next to “Beyond the Barre” across from the TD Bank.
This property was purchased by DeSantis (in addition to a few other properties abutting it) and fencing and a large sign was recently erected advertising “Coming Soon – Century Condos”.
We came across an interesting opinion piece by Joan Little in the Hamilton Spectator regarding out-of-scale development in Burlington and the rise of yet another citizen’s group.
In the case of Burlington however, their city manager James Ridge seems to be going the failed route of the NPCA in an attempt to suppress this public dissent.
