We are going to hand over the reins of this post to Bruce Mackenzie, a local and noted naturalist who has championed conservation of natural resources both here in Grimsby and around the province. You might recognize his name as part of Hawkwatch, saving the Biggar Lagoons bird habitat or his dedication to preserving the woodlot.

While the kids are out of school and people are relaxing in their summer holidays, Council will be hard at work tonight with a very lengthy agenda covering a wide range of matters.
Among some of the topics of interest are:
The latest issue of NewsNow, which should be hitting your mailbox in the next day or so, has rolled out a feature article and editorial on the recent approval by the Committee of Adjustment for a large-scale medical marijuana facility close to homes and the YMCA. Here are our notes from the February 20th Council meeting. The Town has not posted the official minutes to their website as of yet.
Chills circulated through Council chambers Monday night… good chills that is, thinking of preparations and fundraising for the upcoming Coldest Night of the Year challenge on February 24.
It is hard to believe December is already upon us, but a new month means a new schedule of meetings for Council and Town committees.
First up this month is Council on Monday (December 4th). While the agenda looks brief, we expect that the money-eating turbines called the CoGen will be front and centre with some hearty discussion as to it’s future (or a lack thereof).
