As a public service, GCFRG will still post items that it deems of “significant public interest” and with that we are bringing you are a reminder of the Town’s “Open House” event for the proposed Losani development at the former “Fifth Wheel” site at Casablanca Boulevard & Winston Road.
The proposed development consists of:
- 6 mixed-use apartment buildings comprised of a total of 1247 residential units
- These buildings are proposed to have the following heights: 18, 22, 12, 12, 10, and 14 storeys.
- 38, 2.5 storey townhouse units, and 10, 3 storey back-to-back townhouse units; and,
- Approximately 1.4 hectares of parkland area that is proposed to be dedicated to the Town for continuation of the west-end waterfront trail.
Although we have essentially a whole new Council with a different take on development, the Town must legally entertain any application a developer puts forward (even if it borders on ridiculous).
The upcoming “Open House” and the future “Public Meeting” are your opportunity to tell the Planning & Development Committee, the Planning Department and Council what you think of the developer’s proposal. Your input is important and wanted by the Committee, Council and Town Staff.
Do you think 22 storeys is appropriate in an area only zoned for 12? Come out to Town Hall on February 12 @ 6 PM and have your say!
Please note the new meeting time of 6PM which is being trialed to avoid meetings running very late.
