To put a twist on the old saying, “April showers (and snow), bring May flowers”, let’s hope that is really the case and Mother Nature gets back into the regular swing of things. And with the ushering in of May comes a new month of meetings at Town Hall.
Please check out our calendar for what’s coming up and feel free to drop in as all meetings are open to the public. You can also find the calendar details on the Town website here: http://calendar.grimsby.ca/Search.aspx
The agendas and official minutes of meetings can be found here: https://grimsby.civicweb.net/filepro/documents
Our good friends over at A Better Niagara posted an open letter from Ed Smith, stressing the importance of the battle for transparency and better governance in Niagara that is before us. But as with all struggles, they come with a cost.
While you may be getting calls from the big parties looking for donations ahead of the June provincial election, we say that you will get more “bang for your buck” by donating to ABN and changing our local political landscape.

Despite the short agenda of just a few delegations and agenda items, the April 16th Council meeting was definitely “eventful”.

Our friends over at A Better Niagara will be hosting a citizens rally ahead of April 12th’s Regional Council Meeting. Besides the general malaise seemingly affecting Regional Council, they also want to focus on the questionable hiring of the Region’s CAO.
If you are concerned about proper governance in Niagara, we encourage you to attend.
The rally will take place at 6:00 PM, ahead of the 6:30 PM meeting at:
Council Chambers
Niagara Region Headquarters, Campbell West
1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way,
Thorold, On

This week looks like another busy one at Town Hall with Admin & Finance on Monday, April 9th, P&D on Tuesday, April 10th and Public Works on Wednesday, April 11th.
The Planning Open House on the Zoning By-Law Corrections will not just clarify some previous oversights, but may impact some upcoming development projects. We encourage everyone to come out and hear the presentation.
If you thought the dire and questionable state of Niagara Regional Council couldn’t get any worse, well we have a surprise for you!
