We posted an article here back in June regarding the potential closure of Kilean Lodge and the movement of it’s beds to Hamilton. Now the union representing workers at Maplecrest Village, also in Grimsby and a sister facility in Fort Erie are crying foul.

The Council meeting had a very packed agenda on Monday and with that and other matters keeping us busy, we apologize for keeping readers “in suspense” over what transpired at Council.
Notably missing from the meeting was Mayor Bentley, so Alderman Seaborn took the reins as Deputy Mayor
Planning & Development Committee started the Fall 2017 session off with a buffet of agenda items. The updated agenda (with the Interim Site Alteration/Fill By-law) can be found at:

Well, hope that everyone had great summer… kids are back in school (most of them) and the meeting schedule at Town Hall is picking up once again. With the days growing shorter, meetings are back to their regular times for the rest of the schedule.
The Council Chambers were packed again as two hot issues were on the agenda – the potential Livingston Avenue Extension through the woodlot and ongoing dumping of fill on Kemp Road properties. And don’t miss the New Business piece at the very end … the Biodigester!
Council is back for another summer session on Monday August 21st, 2017 at 6:30 PM (summer start time). There is a couple interesting delegations on the Agenda including one to speak about the dumping that is occurring on Kemp and another landowner family *supporting* the idea of a Livingston Avenue Extension.
It was standing room only at the August 16th Public Works Committee meeting, literally…. the Chambers did not have enough seats, so many stood in the doorway throughout the proceedings. A “tip of the hat” definitely goes to all those residents who attended and show their support for saving the Irish Woodlot.

The Public Works meeting on August 16th, 2017 is one many of us have been looking forward to. This meeting represents the first of the last big steps (the second being Town Council next week) that could finally ensure that the Irish Wood Lot is protected from having a major roadway plowed through it in the name of the unneeded Livingston Avenue extension.

It should come as no surprise to those who drive along the QEW even on an irregular basis or those who follow our posts, that the first phase of LJM’s “Waterview Condominums” has been declared as “delayed”.
