Things haven’t been moving too quickly on the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital redevelopment, but the Town is racing ahead to prepare a Secondary Plan and Urban Design guidelines to plan for intensification and redevelopment within the surrounding neighbourhood. Continue reading

DeSantis Homes and their planners have released some more information on their 4-storey downtown condo proposal. The proposal will be up for a public meeting on May 29th where you can ask questions or add your comments to the developer and Town Planning staff.
After a well attended Planning & Development Open House meeting on the now cancelled 8 storey proposal for Century Condos downtown, the developer and his team will be back at Town Hall on Tuesday May 29th to present their 4 storey revised proposal.
The Grimsby GO Transit Station Secondary Plan was presented to the Region’s Planning and Economic Development Committee on April 25 and Regional Council for approval on May 3, 2018. Only a few small technical changes were made.
To put a twist on the old saying, “April showers (and snow), bring May flowers”, let’s hope that is really the case and Mother Nature gets back into the regular swing of things. And with the ushering in of May comes a new month of meetings at Town Hall.
Please check out our calendar for what’s coming up and feel free to drop in as all meetings are open to the public. You can also find the calendar details on the Town website here: http://calendar.grimsby.ca/Search.aspx
The agendas and official minutes of meetings can be found here: https://grimsby.civicweb.net/filepro/documents
Despite the short agenda of just a few delegations and agenda items, the April 16th Council meeting was definitely “eventful”.
Here are the official minutes (which really don’t give any indication of what actually happened):

This week looks like another busy one at Town Hall with Admin & Finance on Monday, April 9th, P&D on Tuesday, April 10th and Public Works on Wednesday, April 11th.
The Planning Open House on the Zoning By-Law Corrections will not just clarify some previous oversights, but may impact some upcoming development projects. We encourage everyone to come out and hear the presentation.
For the residents of Grimsby, they wanted to make sure the developer of Century Condos downtown heard their messages “loud and clear” on the proposed development. From what News Now is reporting, it seems at least on the issue of height and heritage, the developer is going back to the drawing board for 4-storeys.
While everyone has been enjoying the long weekend, we have been busy putting together our notes from the March 27, 2018 Planning & Development meeting. With so many speakers for the Century Condos “open house”, needless to say we had a great deal of paper to go over.
While we are compiling notes, we just wanted to say what a great turnout there was at Town Hall on Tuesday Night. So much that the Fire Department had to enforce the 185 people maximum in the building and turn people away.
For those who were unable to get in, from our understanding (subject to change) the Town took their names and they will have an opportunity at the April 10, 2018 P&D meeting to have their say to Town Staff and the Committee.
For those who did get in and especially for those who spoke, it was clear that the Committee, Town Staff and the Developer heard the message of “No More Than Four”. Some Committee members even went so far to remark “Three is even better”.
You can still send an e-mail/letter off to Council ahead of the Council meeting on Monday,
Thanks to everyone for joining the cause and their continuing support to preserve our Downtown!
