Residents in the West End of Winston Road recently received notice of a “Public Open House” regarding a proposed subdivision at 709-721 Winston Road. The proposed development calls for a rezoning with a combination of 8 detached dwellings along Winston Road and 28 condominium townhouses abutting the rear of those properties, with access from the North Service Road
Month: June 2017 (Page 1 of 2)
Following up on our previous “Buyer Beware” post, we noticed the following comments from the father of a very unhappy buyer regarding LJM’s smaller development in Burlington, Appleby Gardens.
As we previously posted, The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care held it’s public meeting on June 19th regarding the potential closure and move of 50 LTC spots to Hamilton. Residents turned up to voice protest and support for keeping the beds here in Grimsby.

As Council will be taking a break for a month (next meeting is July 17th) there seemed to be a lot of ground covered and a packed audience to go along with the proceedings. The agenda and following discussions were definitely a mixed bag of treats.

Despite several Aldermen’s unanswered requests for updates of the Biodigester over the past few Council meetings, it looks like the pressure has just cranked up on the project a few more notches.
Town Council takes a final seating on Monday June 19th, 2017 before taking a short break for a month. While most of the agenda is just a “pass-through” of the items covered in recent committee meanings, there are a few notable items that caught our eye.
This week’s past Planning & Development Committee had a little bit of everything. Perhaps it was not as exciting as the Committee of Adjustment meeting across the hall but definitely covered wider ground (pun intended). The official minutes of the meeting can be found at: https://grimsby.civicweb.net/filepro/documents?expanded=1127,1923,79758&preview=84972
As usual, here are our notes on the meeting…
After our previous “Buyer Beware” article here, we decided to continue the series after seeing an announcement on the “Tower Residences” (Floors 10-15) at LJM’s Waterview development.
While Committee of Adjustment meetings tend to be uneventful affairs with applications for minor variances dealing with setbacks and whatnot, the meeting on June 13 was certainly a sight to be seen. The show was certainly worth the price of admission.
This week brings us meetings of many of the Town Committees and they sure look to have an interesting lineup… a little something for everyone it seems.
