On the agenda is the long-awaited update on the Town’s (meaning you the taxpayers) multi-million dollar non-operational Biodisaster Biodigester that is almost 2 years behind schedule. Read our recent posts for some background: here and here…. and here.
Bob Dylan sung in 1964 “The Times Are A Changin'”… and this seems to be the case of some of the Westbrook greenhouses in the Grimsby area, after Up Cannabis Incorporated has agreed to acquire greenhouses, land and equipment at a cost of $7.3 million.
Ordinary residents and Members of Council alike have been asking for months for an update to the over budget, much delayed and much reviled Biodigester project sitting up top of the mountain.
After plenty of stalling, we have all been promised an update at the next Council Meeting this coming Monday (July 17th). Given the recent “developments’ (or a lack thereof when considering the project as a whole), we are sure it will be a well-attended meeting.
While we are generally in a “slower cycle” when it comes to happenings at Town Hall at this time of year, we thought it apt to occasionally take a look back at topics of interest and see how we got where they are (or aren’t, if that’s the case).
The Town has now put up a public notice, looking for prospective members for the “rejigged” Heritage Committee Heritage Grimsby Advisory Committee. The new Committee will work under the auspices of the Planning Department and as is implied the name will “advise” on matters.
Well, summer may be upon us but that didn’t keep people from packing the gallery at the July 11th Planning & Development Committee. With two “Open Houses” on the Agenda, it was great to see such a large turnout by residents who actively took part in the meetings.
If you have been following the progress of the Grimsby Biodigester Biodisaster project, besides the significant delays, possible future treatment of processed sewage you will probably have noticed that the whole project is cloaked in more secrecy than a “Skunk Works” project at Area 51.
The Admin & Finance Committee was in session on Monday evening and covered a wide array of matters including but not limited to the 2018 Municipal Election, Animal Control and Fire Safety Plans.

Well, summertime may be upon us and while many of us be in vacation mode, things may be a little slower at Town Hall as well… but the meetings must go on (albeit on a summer schedule).
