The latest issue of NewsNow, which should be hitting your mailbox in the next day or so, has rolled out a feature article and editorial on the recent approval by the Committee of Adjustment for a large-scale medical marijuana facility close to homes and the YMCA. The rather clandestine attempt to push this through is a real eye opener.
We have skipped the more tedious details of Monday’s Admin & Finance meeting and decided to cut to the chase and discuss the “lame duck” council concept that can potentially befall a municipality in an election year.

Freshly re-elected Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff isn’t resting up after a busy provincial election, but rather he is out making good on his campaign promises. One of those is to keep West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on the maps of Premier Ford’s newly formed government at Queen’s Park.

The St. Catharines Standard featured a recent two-part series entitled “Becoming Citizen Bill” regarding Bill Hodgson, a former Lincoln Mayor, former Regional Councillor and now a former member of the embattled NPCA.
The Heritage Advisory Committee convened on Wednesday April 4th with much of the meeting occupied by a delegation and discussion of the Grimsby Beach cottage at 33 Victoria Terrace. There was a good handful of local residents in the Council Chambers showing their spirit to preserving this piece of Grimsby history.
This special convening of the Committee of Adjustment was held this afternoon (Friday July 6, 4PM) to re-hear the minor variance application of 1834439 Ontario Inc. The minor variance was to allow a proposed licensed marijuana facility within 80m of residential homes, where the By-Law requires instead 150m of separation.

As a follow-up to our post on the proposed Aleafia licensed cannabis production facility in Grimsby, we came across some articles from Allan Benner of The St. Catharine’s Standard. They may shatter the myths held by some that these operations don’t give off strong odours and are easily contained.
There is a last-minute meeting of the Committee of Adjustment on July 6th at 4PM at Town Hall, 160 Livingston Avenue.
This special meeting of the CoA will re-hear an application of 1834439 Ontario Inc. who have partnered with Aleafia Farms Inc. to convert the 160,000 sq ft greenhouses at 378 South Service Road into a licensed production facility for medical marijuana.
Just a quick update that tonight’s Heritage Advisory Committee meeting regarding 33 Victoria Terrace will start at 6PM at Town Hall, not 7PM due to summer hours.
